Best of 2003 Awards
With over 100 entries, picking the winners of the New York
Construction Best of 2003 Awards wasn't easy.
Submissions came from a broad mix of entities such as public
and private owners, developers, construction managers, architects,
engineers, general contractors and subcontractors. Projects
from all three states - New York, New Jersey and Connecticut
- were submitted and ranged from large-scale office developments
to smaller historic renovations.
The jury met in mid-September to determine the winners. For
each submission, jury members read a project description and
view photographs taken at various stages of the project. In
weighing a project's merit, consideration was given to the
challenges faced by the project team and the teamwork displayed
in completing the job.
With these points in mind, the jury selected 28 projects
in 17 categories, including adaptive re-use, bridge, environmental,
high-rise residential, highway, hospitality, industrial, institutional,
interior fit-out, mixed use, office, rehabilitation, renovation,
restoration, retail, site/landscaping and transit. In some
categories both awards of merit and project of the year awards
were granted. In others, only merit awards or project of the
year honors were given.
