About Best of 2002

New York Construction News is proud to present its Best of 2002 Awards program. The program, launched six years ago, recognizes teamwork and the mastering of difficult project conditions to create truly incredible results..

This year's jurors included:

  • Joan Gerner, senior vice president of Bovis Lend Lease LMB Inc.
  • Boryas Hayda, partner, DeSimone Consulting Engineers, John Hennessy III, chairman of The Syska Hennessy Group
  • Michael Mazzucca, president of Regional Scaffolding & Hoisting Inc.
  • Frank McArdle, managing director of the General Contractors Association
  • Joseph Ryan, executive vice president of Tishman Realty & Construction
  • Frank Sciame, president of F.J. Sciame Construction Co. Inc.
  • Jeff Spiritos, vice president of Hines
  • Sandra Wilkin, president of Bradford Construction
  • Jeff Zogg, managing director of the General Building Contractors of New York State Inc.

Our judges were knowledgeable about the majority of the entries and spent hours deliberating over the fine points of each, giving every entry fair consideration. In all, there were 109 entries in 20 categories.

This year, top category awards and awards of merit were given in the following categories:

Once the jury received all 109 submissions, they selected an overall "Project of the year," a project that stood out above the rest as the most challenging and most impressive teamwork effort that produced the most extraordinary results.
