Case Wheel Loaders

Measurable improvements in fuel efficiency, productivity, maintainability and operator comfort are available with the Case E Series of wheel loaders. The machines offer improved performance in a variety of landscaping, industrial material handling and residential construction applications, especially where working conditions involve high amounts of airborne debris.

The new 521E wheel loader, introduced at this year’s World of Concrete show in Las Vegas, features an electronically controlled engine that provides increased horsepower to move more material per hour, a redesigned cab that offers greater operator comfort and visibility, and best-in-class maintenance, delivering more productive hours, all with a payload capacity of up to 2.5 cu yds.

The 521E is powered by a fully electronic, Tier III-certified engine that incorporates a common-rail fuel-injection system, allowing air and highly pressurized fuel to mix efficiently for cleaner combustion and increased fuel economy. Operators can match power and fuel economy to their application, with a choice of three power curves—max, standard and economy power—and four work modes—max, standard, economy and auto.

In addition to the 521E and 521E/XT, the Case E Series wheel loaders include the 621E, 621E/XT, 621E/XR, 721E, 721E/XT, 821E, 921E, 1221E and 1221E/XT. Case also offers a full line of compact wheel loaders.

Genie Trax Telescopic Booms

Genie recently unveiled the latest additions to its telescopic boom family, the S-60 and S-65 Trax models. The new Trax booms feature a four-point track system that allows contractors to work any time of the year, enhancing traction for travel in many types of difficult terrain.

Genie’s fixed-track booms are designed with a narrower profile—8 ft, 6 in. wide—to allow these booms to be transported anywhere in the U.S. without special oversize load permits and limitations on evening and weekend transport.

The Trax models have an inside turning radius of 11 ft and an outside turning radius of 21 ft, and because the Genie Trax booms steer like a wheeled unit, operators can easily drive these machines on and off the delivery trailer, as well as maneuver in close proximity to walls and foundations. The Trax booms have a travel speed of 2.7 mph.

Both the S-60 fixed and flexible track models offer 500-lb lift capacity at the maximum horizontal outreach of 50 ft, 10 in., up to a working height of 66 ft. The S-65 models provide a 500-lb lift

FLASH Shielding System

A new ultra-lightweight aluminum shielding system designed by PRO-TEC Equipment and the Gas Technology Institute can be used to maintain, repair and rehabilitate underground pipe in congested areas where other utility lines are present.

Called FLASH, for Flexible Lightweight Aluminum Shielding system, it is available in two-, three- and four-sided models. Typically assembled above ground by one or two people in about 20 minutes, the entire shield can be placed in an excavation using a small excavator or backhoe loader. Once in the pit, the FLASH system’s panel-rotating capability allows individual panels to be rotated under existing utility lines from above ground using a long panel-release tool.

Panels are made of lightweight, honeycombed aluminum in sizes ranging from 6 in. high by 4 ft long to 2 ft high by 8 ft long and can be transported using a pick-up truck. Corner posts are adjustable to provide leveling capability and pin-on lifting lugs facilitate handling.
