Pentagon Design Honored

BBG-BBGM wins 2007 Best Design-Build Project for the Pentagon’s Library and Conference Center Also, Parsons Brinckerhoff names new CEO.

NEW HIRES

Thomas Knittel has joined the New York office of HOK as principal and also senior designer within the architecture group.

Tom Eisele has been hired as a project director at Einhorn Yaffee Prescott, Architecture & Engineering.

Jennifer McKinnon, Marion Jones and Marcella Grigg have joined Savills Granite LLC, a New York-based real estate investment banking company.

PROMOTIONS

Daniel Kantor was promoted to principal at The S/L/A/M Collaborative, an architectural firm in Connecticut, Atlanta and Boston. Edward Edelman, Amy Kilburn, Steve Murray and Raymond Sluzas were named associates.

Steven Arsht has been promoted to corporate senior vice president of pre-construction on a national level at Skanska USA Building.

Christine Hunter has been promoted to principal at Magnusson Architecture and Planning.

Keith Hawksworth has been named CEO of Parsons Brinckerhoff.

HONORS AND APPOINTMENTS

Carmen Rainieri, director of Construction Management at FAI Construction Consultants, has been certified as a professional constructor.

Michael Lappin, president and CEO of Community Preservation Conservation, received the 2007 Progress of Peoples Achievement Award from Catholic Charities Brooklyn & Queens and Progress of Peoples Development Corporation.

George Desmarais of H2M received the Distinguished Service Award from the Long Island Chapter of the New York Water Environment Association.

COMPANY NEWS

BBG-BBGM has won a 2007 Best Design-Build Project for rehabilitation/renovation/restoration from the Design-Build Institute of America for its work on the Pentagon’s Library and Conference Center in Washington D.C.

Perkins Eastman Architects announced that Basler Mosa Design Group and The Liebman Melting Partnership joined the firm in Dubai, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic.

Hoffmann Architects received a 2007 AIA Connecticut Design Award for Preservation for its work on the Scholastic headquarters in New York.

Wales Engineering has joined TVGA Consultants, which has prompted TVGA’s expansion to include offices in Saratoga Springs and Cooperstow as well as the original offices in Elma, Niagara Falls, Jamestown and Syracuse, New York.

Hardesty & Hanover has won the 2007 Best Design-Build Project under $50 million award from the Design-Build Institute of America for its 14th Street Bascule Bridge rehabilitation.

Structural Preservation Systems, a Baltimore-based specialty-contracting firm, has opened a new location serving Long Island in Floral Park, New York.

URS Corporation has been named Construction Manager of the Year by the New York City School Construction Authority.
