NJ Transit Picks New Chief

New Jersey Transit promotes former assistant to replace George Warrington. Also, Gilbane and Thornton Tomasetti promote regional executives.

NEW HIRES

James Martin has joined daSILVA Architects of New York as a principal.

Albert Martin has been appointed deputy commissioner for the Connecticut Department of Transportation overseeing mass transportation.

Brian Dolan has been hired by HDR Inc., an architecture, engineering, and consulting firm based in Omaha, Neb., as marketing manager of its New York office. In addition, Marcia Earle has been hired as marketing manager in the company’s White Plains office, while Michael Principe has been hired as section manager and David Yozzo as senior project manager in the company’s Pearl River, N.Y., office.

Gene Limpicki has joined Medina Consultants as vice president-branch manager of New York operations, a position in which he will be in charge of business development for construction management.

Nina Freudenberger has joined Swig Equities, a New York-based developer, as senior designer for interiors in the project development department.

Harris Feinn has been named a vice president of STV Inc, an architectural, engineering, planning, and construction management firm based in New York. In addition, the firm promoted Samir Eid to vice president.

Peter Kawa has joined the Burns and Roe Group, an engineering, procurement and maintenance company based in Oradell, N.J., as vice president of sales for the firm’s power division. In addition, Andrew Ratzkin has joined the company as vice president and general counsel. Burns and Roe also promoted Al Alpierti to vice president of the engineering and design division.

Thomas Mitchell has been hired as a project manager at ACC Construction, a general contracting and construction management firm in New York.

Michael DeJohn has been appointed president of GVA Williams Project Management LLC, a new service launched by GVA Williams, a commercial real estate firm based in New York.

David Koren has joined Perkins Eastman Architects as an associate principal and director of marketing.

PROMOTIONS

Richard Sarles Sr. has been named executive director of New Jersey Transit replacing George Warrington, who left for the private sector. Sarles had served as the agency’s assistant executive director for capital programs and planning since 2002.

Julia Nelson and Todd Poisson have been promoted to associate partner at BKSK Architects of New York. In addition, Paul Capece, Francisco Ramirez, and Keith Pitocchi have been named associate.

George Cavallo has been named executive vice president of Gilbane Building of Providence, R.I. Cavallo runs the company’s Northeast Region division and works out of its Lawrenceville, N.J. offices.

Ling-en Hsiao has been promoted to principal in the New York office of Thornton Tomasetti, a structural engineering and design firm.

Ed Cettina, executive vice president of Tishman Construction, has been appointed regional manager of the company’s New Jersey and Pennsylvania operations.

HONORS AND APPOINTMENTS

Michael Shelton, vice president and general manager for government and institutional services at EMCOR Facilities Services, has been named chairman of the executive committee of the Contract Services Association, an industry advocacy organization for government services providers.

Nancy Goshow of New York’s Goshow Architects has been appointed as the eastern region director on the board of directors of Women Construction Owners & Executives, a national trade association representing women business owners and policy making executives in the construction industry.

COMPANY NEWS

New England Mechanical Services, a division of EMCOR Services, has received three awards from Associated Builders and Contractors, including its Connecticut chapter’s Merit Cup Award and two national awards – the Accredited Quality Contractor Award and the Platinum Level STEP Award for ABC’s Safety Training and Evaluation Process.

Fletcher Thompson Architecture Engineering of Shelton, Conn., recently opened an office in New York City.
