Carey Leaves Top Job at Battery Park
City Authority
Cavanaugh takes the helm at the
local authority. Also, two New York real estate firms announce
international partnerships.
NEW HIRES
Timothy Carey has stepped down
as president and CEO of the Hugh L. Carey Battery Park City
Authority, after six years in those roles, to take a position
as COO of the New York Power Authority. James
Cavanaugh, formerly the Battery Park City Authority's
COO, has taken over as president and CEO.
Vikas Wagh has been named
vice president and head of the engineering division at LiRo
Group, an engineering, architectural, and construction management
firm based in Syosset, N.Y.
Christopher Ling has joined
the Prisco Group, an architectural and engineering services
firm headquartered in Hopewell, N.J., as director of architecture.
Robert Harwood has been named
COO of both Prudential CRES Commercial Real Estate, a real
estate services firm based in Medford, N.Y., and its affiliate,
Soundview Property Management.
Carrie Knowlton has returned
to the New York headquarters of Horton Lees Brogden Lighting
Design as an associate.
Scott Whitman has been named
principal-in-charge of the Thomas Group, a K-12 design and
engineering firm based in Ithaca, N.Y.
Jae Chang, Seth Parker, and
Ryan Tunstall have joined SDS/Procida
and Procida Realty and Construction,
a real estate development and construction company based in
the Bronx, where they will serve as project coordinators.
Mitchell Todd has been hired
as the firm's director of sales and marketing.
New Jersey Acting Gov. Richard Codey has appointed Thomas
Carver as executive director of the Casino Reinvestment
Development Authority.

Shelley Wang has been appointed
to the newly created position of general manager at W.A.C.
Lighting, a designer and manufacturer of specialty lighting
founded by Wang's parents and based in Garden City, N.Y.
Albert Bast has been named
senior vice president and director of surface transportation
in the New York offices of URS Corp., a design and engineering,
firm based in San Francisco.
Gustavo Lima has been promoted
to director of construction administration at Cannon Design,
a planning and design firm based in Buffalo, N.Y. Also,
Michael Mistriner has been named a principal.
HONORS AND APPOINTMENTS
James Stewart Polshek, founder
of his New York-based namesake architectural firm, has become
the first recipient of the George B. Post Award for Excellence
in Architecture, given by the City College of New York and
the National Arts Club.
Kenneth Gardiner, a partner
at Dannible & McKee, an accounting and consulting firm
based in Syracuse, N.Y., has earned certification as a construction
financial professional.
James Heeren and Michael
Speck - environmental consultants at the Parsippany,
N.J., office of Dewberry, a civil, >> structural, and
construction engineering firm based in Fairfax, Va. - have
earned "Cleanup Star" pre-certification from the
New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
