Michael Giaramita, senior vice president and northeast regional manager for Carter & Burgess, Inc., has been elected a principal of the firm. With more than 26 years experience, he is responsible for managing the operations and growth planning for the firm's northeast offices.


Sean Gann has been appointed project executive for ACC Construction. He is an experienced project executive with a degree in civil and structural engineering from the University of Vermont.


Matrix Environmental & Geotechnical Services, Inc. announced the promotions of Clare Sullivan and Norma Eichlin to vice president. Sullivan has 20 years experience in site assessments, regulatory compliance auditing, remedial investigations and hazardous materials surveys. Eichlin's experience includes more than 15 years work in the engineering and management of various types of projects.


Jack Kocsis, chief executive officer of the Building Contractors Association of New Jersey, was honored by the American Subcontractors Association of New Jersey with the Distinguished Industry Service Award for his significant contributions to the construction industry.


Larry Casey has been named corporate senior vice president of sales, a new position, by Skanska USA Building Inc. Casey previously worked for Centex Rooney Construction Company, where he served for the past 17 years in a senior business development position.


Cannon Design announced the appointment of Gustavo A. Lima, vice president, to director of construction administration and Wallace J. Whetham, vice president, AIA, to director of technical quality. In their new roles, Lima and Whetham will be responsible for leading strategic new initiatives in professional development and technical quality.


James R. Laurita, P.E., was named a senior associate at Gannett Fleming. Laurita is based in the firm's New York, N.Y. office and is an expert in the areas of operations, project management, business planning and development, information technology support and financial administration.


STV Incorporated's National Transportation Group announced two new hires. Mary Mangnuson joined as vice president and Paul E. Kaufmann joined as manager of bus systems engineering. Mangnuson's primary responsibility will be expanding STV's national bus and rail maintenance facility practice and Kaufmann will be responsible for managing bus procurements and providing bus fleet engineering support to STV clients nationwide.


The New York office of Brennan Beer Gorman/Architects and Brennan Beer Gorman Monk/Interiors announced the promotion of four staff members. Amy Jakubowski was promoted to principal, Nancy Mah to associate, John Lawrence to associate and Holly Schulz to associate.
