Richard Tomasetti, co-chairman of The Thornton-Tomasetti
Group, received Alumni Achievement Award from New York University.
John F. Spencer was named chief
executive officer of The New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation.
He replaced Alfred T. McNeill who retired. Spencer retired
from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey after 34
years of experience in government managing and overseeing
engineering and architectural staffs for major transportation
and other capital construction projects. McNeill had led the
SCC since its creation in July 2002.
Mac Ismail, joined The Urbitran
Group as chief operating officer. In this newly created post
in the firm's Manhattan headquarters, he will be responsible
for day-to-day operations across all business units and functional
areas. A licensed civil engineer in New York and Washington
states, Ismail was formerly with STV Corporation as vice president
and director of mid-Atlantic operations and executive-in-charge
of the JFK Airport AirTrain project. His career includes a
20-year stint with Ebasco where he rose from senior structural
engineer to director of international operations of the infrastructure
division, and vice president/general manager of wholly-owned
Ebasco subsidiary EDCI.
David Knauss, president of
Lehigh Construction Group, Inc. in Orchard Park, N.Y., has
been elected president of the General Building Contractors
of New York State.
Knauss is a 1982 graduate of Lehigh University and has 23
years of experience in the construction industry. Knauss and
partner, Tom Glomb, co-founded Lehigh Construction Group,
Inc. in 1984.

Peter Schubert, AIA, joined
Hillier as design director for New York. Formerly a design
principal at Kohn Pedersen Fox, Schubert has been responsible
for designs for corporate office towers, higher education
buildings, government facilities, performing art spaces
and new town master planning projects in the United States,
Europe and Asia. Among projects he has been involved with
include the Children's Hospital in Philadelphia, NASDAQ's
New York headquarters, the First Hawaiian Bank Center and
Posteel's headquarters in Seoul.
Joseph E. Ferrara, P.E.,
joined Earth Tech as vice president, regional director rail/transit.
He was formerly chief engineer for capital program management
with the Long Island Rail Road. Ferrara will lead the company's
mid-Atlantic rail/transit practice, providing services from
planning and project development to design and construction.
Audrey Heffernan, AICP, joined
Earth Tech as vice president, transportation planning services.
A certified planner and experienced project manager, Heffernan
has completed environmental and planning studies for major
transportation projects in the area. She served as the project
environmental lead on the East Side Access project. Heffernan
will work with the company's rail and transit practice.
Brittany Unis has joined
Ted Moudis Associates as marketing coordinator.
George Keller, P.E., joined
KS Engineers, P.C. Most recently, Keller worked as director
of construction for a New Jersey construction management
firm. For more than 30 years, he worked at the New Jersey
Department of Transportation as a regional engineer/director
where he was in charge of the maintenance, construction,
material and electrical forces for the North Jersey area's
five county region.
Paul A. DeBiase, CIH, CSP
joined H2M Group as manager of industrial hygiene.
Edward M. Fallon, RPA, director
of New York operations for Brookfield Financial Properties,
and James McKenna, senior vice president of Turner Construction's
New York Business Unit, have been named to the board of
directors of the Irish American Building Society. Their
responsibilities will be to help guide the IABS as it undertakes
the building of its own headquarters and library/cultural
center.
Noel Brener joined Site Safety,
LLC as director of training. Brener has over 40 years in
the construction industry, most of those years specializing
in scaffolds, rigging and safety. He has a special rigger
license by the City of New York and is also a New York City
licensed site safety manager. He will lead the firm's training
division and instruct the scaffold training courses.
James Dolan, P.E., a senior
mechanical engineer with O'Dea, Lynch, Abbattista Consulting
Engineers, PC has received his Leadership in Energy &
Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S.
Green Buildings Council. Dolan has a masters degree in mechanical
engineering from Manhattan College and a bachelors degree
in marine engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
in Kings Point, N.Y.
Frederick "Rick" Dean,
P.E., an associate engineer with O'Dea, Lynch, Abbattista
Consulting Engineers, PC was honored twice at the American
Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers
Region 1 chapter conference for his contributions to the
society. He was awarded the "Top Five Goal" for
being among the top five people in research promotion fundraising
and was also awarded a certificate of appreciation, honorable
mention for his efforts.
Antonio S. Limbardo, president
of Engineered Devices Corporation in Ridgefield Park, N.J.,
will receive the Ernest E. Trolio Distinguished Service
Award from the Concrete Industry Board of the City of New
York. The presentation will take place at the board's annual
President's Ball, May 9 at the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan.
Limbardo is a past board chairman of the Concrete Industry
Board and has been active in board activities for the past
25 years.
