A Bright Future
By 2030, the region has experienced a renaissance. Development
has removed the scars of Sept. 11, 2001 and cemented Manhattan's
preeminence as the world's capital for the 21st century.
Myriad large-scale projects in nearby Brooklyn and New Jersey
add to the dynamic mix. Ferries are a critical feature of
our mass transportation system.
The 2012 Olympics spurred construction of sports facilities
and housing in all boroughs and beyond. Cultural institutions
thrive, highlighted by a new Guggenheim Museum in lower Manhattan.
The last frontiers of Manhattan - midtown west, the waterfronts,
the East Side Con Ed site - have brought forth whole new neighborhoods.
The future is bright.
